COM 264 - Video Production II

3 Credits

An intermediate course that provides a continuation of the principles learned and practiced in Video Production I (COM 150) as they relate to camera operation. The student will add to their skills through advanced techniques in image acquisition with increased emphasis on editing of live-action video footage. Working with contemporary non-linear editing systems, the emphasis will be placed on the structure and pacing of a finished video project.

Prerequisite: COM 150.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate technical aspects of professional quality productions including: File management, Title creation, Real-time video editing, Waveform sound editing, Professional quality video and sound track creation, Working with a timeline, Working with multiple windows
2. Demonstrate the ability to articulate aesthetic decisions and appropriate use of non-linear techniques including: Use of transitions, Continuity, Pacing, Storytelling
3. Applying enhanced communication skills – necessary to successfully communicate to a client, an audience and team members
4. Demonstrate presentation skills including ability to present your rough cut and work toward a finished product to deliver to your client.
